Be in the starting blocks for Paris 2024 with the new €50 pure gold coin in honor of Kiting !
On the occasion of the Paris 2024 Summer Games, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to this renowned international competition through a collection highlighting sport, its values, the athletes but also the country’s heritage host. Olympism and Paralympism are celebrated.
2022 is the second year of a quadrilogy where sport and its values will be presented. The sport highlighted through this splendid coin is the kite.
Now at the Société Française des Monnaies!
The drawings are organized according to a common structure: athletes at the heart of their movement. Particular attention was paid to the treatment of postures and attitudes to convey the athlete’s concentration and the intensity of the moment.
Obverse of the coin
Since June 2021, Kite has been part of the Olympic sports. Two separate Kite events are on the program for Paris 2024: one for women and one for men. This traction water sport consists of sliding with a board on a body of water towed by a traction kite. The sailing events will take place at the Marseille Marina.
Reverse of the coin
The reverse common to the series presents a view of Paris where the Seine takes on the appearance of an athletics track. The Eiffel Tower dominates the city and lights up the competition.
