Louis Vuitton unveils the new Tambour Steel

After a 21-year career, the Tambour by Louis Vuitton is evolving. Still with its sculptural lines, this icon of the French brand is reinvented and refined, perfectly in line with the trend for steel watches with integrated bracelets. A casually styled watch featuring exceptional finishing and a new exclusive movement designed by La Fabrique du Temps.

This is a revolution for this collection by Louis Vuitton. A move upmarket with a strong identity, faithful to the brand’s codes. It features the signature rounded case engraved with the 12 famous letters on the sandblasted bezel, perfectly sculpted in alignment with the hour markers. Its size has also been scaled down with a width of 40mm for only 8.2mm thick thanks to the introduction of a micro-rotor for increased thinness. What’s more, the caseback is slightly arched to fit the wrist, with a subtly rounded profile for optimum comfort.

For the first time without hornsthe watch displays a new morphology as well as a refined dial worthy of the finest manufactures with grey and blue on steel models. Another noteworthy detail is the folding clasp with its invisible triple-blade clasp that gives even more meaning to fine brushed links cleverly complemented by polished intermediate links. The only hitch is the water-resistance of just 5 ATM, a shadow of its former self for a watch in the “sport-chic” style.

To top it all off, its new calibre LFT023 mechanism is the first of its kind to be developed by Louis Vuitton with Le Cercle des Horlogers. The presence of the openwork barrel cover with the shape of the Monogram Flower, the stylized LV motif on the micro-rotor in 22-carat gold on the peripheral gear train, as well as the bead-blasted bridges with polished bevelsbut also the colorless side of the stonework in contrast to the usual magenta of the synthetic rubies. A resolutely modern look that gives full meaning to this automatic movement, clocked at 28,800 vph, offering 50 hours of power reserve and certified chronometer by the Observatoire Chronométrique de Genève under the auspices of the Timelab. In short, an admirable new impetus for the French company founded in 1854, foreshadowing future novelties of a new caliber! Prices are set at 19,500€ for these steel models.
