We are interested today in a real UFO named Behrens. The young Chinese brand has just unveiled the Constell also called “Consteller”, a new creation equipped with a unique display with moon phase indicator and 24-hour display.
An independent Chinese brand
Created in 2012 in Shenzhen by Lin Bingqiang, Behrens is an independent brand characterized by its desire to reinterpret the display time through singular and worked pieces. The first creations of the brand received a warm welcome, but the consecration came in 2020, the year in which Apolar and Rotary were respectively nominated in the “Calendar & Astronomy” then “Challenge” categories at the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix. After unveiling an effective and surprising collaboration with the Russian watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin in 2022, the young brand continues its development with the release of the Constell.
A very unique display
As with all of the brand’s creations, this Behrens stands out through an original display. Here, three sub-counters live together at the heart of a sumptuous dial starry pattern on a black or white mother-of-pearl background, a choice. A magnificent decor taking up the constellations and advancing to the rhythm of the moon phase, enthroned at 6 o’clock. The latter is completed by an hour counter with 2 hands (12/24 hours), placed at 8 o’clock, and by a minute counter echoing at 4 o’clock. Finally, the seconds take their place in the center and sweep the entire dial. The whole therefore takes up the essence of a regulator.
A Japanese automatic movement
On the mechanical side, the Constell embeds a movement Miyota 9015oscillating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering 42 hours of power reserve. Although modified by the brand to allow this singular display, you will have understood that this is not what holds our attention here. The spectacle is on the other side and could easily pass for a piece of haute horlogerie. To get one, you will have to count $2650without forgetting that its size of 42mm will not suit the thinnest wrists.
