From the very beginning, Bell & Ross succeeded brilliantly in materializing the interior of a cockpit within a watch. This was by far the key to its success. And that’s what we’re talking about today, with a new limited edition inspired by an essential aeronautical instrument the directional or heading indicator, a gyroscope for stable heading in flight. Let’s take a look at this novelty BR 03 Gyrocompass !
Turn indicator, artificial horizon, course indicator, etc. Visit aircraft instrument panels include a large number of indicators that Bell & Ross like to draw inspiration from. Over the years, no fewer than 15 such editions have been produced. In addition, the BR 03 range has been given a facelift earlier this month with a diameter reduced from 42 to 41mmslightly thinner horns with a now polished facet, corners that are still round but softened, and above all a new automatic movement, caliber BR-CAL.302 (Sellita SW300-1 base) bringing the power reserve to 54 hours. This Gyrocompass limited edition has all the attributes, including a black ceramic caseas slim as ever, with a thickness of 10.6mm and water resistance to 100 metres.
On this model, of course, it’s the silhouette of a fighter plane that catches the eye. Let’s not be unrealistic, it doesn’t indicate the course, as it’s simply the hour hand, while the white arrow-tipped hand points to the minutes, thetimer scale is positioned on a raised part of the dial.. The second hand, with its long counterweight sweeping across the dial at all times, is a real eye-catcher. The discreet date window remains, still positioned at 4-5 o’clock. Note also the night-time effect, although not illustrated here, with theapplication of various Super-LumiNova on the cardinal points, the airplane and the rest of the indexes/hands.
