Presented in Geneva a few weeks ago alongside Watches & Wonders as part of the Time to Watches exhibition, Reservoir spoils us with a brand new line. Alongside the Airflight, this new trio completes the young brand’s aviation offering with, as always, a strong design and meticulous finish. Zoom in on this new Black Sparrow Pilot and on his three variations.
Reservoir celebrates its eighth anniversary this year. In less than a decade, the brand has made a name for itself on the watchmaking scene, thanks to a unique signature. A singular display of the time through a retrograde minute hand and a jumping hour. As well as providing an atypical reading of time, this allows the brand to reinforce its DNA and its design inspired by various machines (cars, navy and aviation). Our new model of the day falls into the latter category, alongside the Airflight, already inspired by cockpit instruments. The Black Sparrow loses the power-reserve indicator for a more streamlined dial, but is adorned with a uniquely constructed case. Not to mention its tribute to a First World War hero: Eugene Bullardone of the first African-American fighter pilots in history.
On the mechanical side, we find a movement we’ve been talking about a lot lately. A new and very serious alternative to the ETA 2824 and the Sellita SW-200: the calibre G100 produced by La Joux-Perret. But Reservoir had to go one step further, and added a patented modulecomposed of 113 parts, enabling the brand to offer its unique display with a 56-hour battery lifecompared with just 37 hours when fitted to an ETA base.
Also in stainless steel, you can choose between two case finishes, satin-finish or brushed with black PVD coating. In both cases, a black dial is available for the satin-finish steel version, followed by a sand-colored dial is also available. The watches have a logical diameter of 42mm and are distinguished by their lugs, which appear to be bolted to the case. These are complemented by a fluted bezel and an imposing onion crownThese creations are linked to the world of aviation. Available for pre-order, you’ll need 3,800€ and wait until the end of the year to receive your instrument.
