We often talk about the case, the dial, the movement, but much more rarely about the watch strap. Well it’s done here since for the models of the series Omega Speedmaster Professional 3861 (just like the Omega Speedmaster Professional 2021) are getting a new strap which is obviously eagerly awaited by fans of the brand and especially of this timepiece.
The Speedmaster Moonwatch, an instantly recognizable icon
Known as the first and only watch to be worn on the Moon, the Omega Speedmaster Professional 3861 Or Speedmaster Moonwatch, serves as a legend in the world of watchmaking. Aside from its peerless performance, this Master Chronometer-certified timepiece boasts a timeless design that is clear, elegant and sporty all at the same time.
It is particularly recognizable by its asymmetrical 42 mm stainless steel case, its black graduated dial, as well as its black anodized aluminum bezel, stamped with a dot above the number 90 and diagonally with the number 70. Recently, a new stylistic detail has been added to this emblematic watch, namely a new strap.
New wrist circumference for the Omega Speedmaster Professional 3861
In fact, it has been a few months since all the references of Speedmaster Moonwatch (hesalite glass and sapphire crystal) are adorned with a new strap. This news was particularly well received by fans of this model, many of whom complained about the old strap. After the flat links of the Speedmaster Professional Apollo 11 50th Anniversary in 2019, the brand returns to us this time with a bracelet inspired by the Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Moonshine Gold.
On the program therefore, a new integrated steel bracelet made up of rows of five concave links. The latter fastens around the wrist using a folding clasp with an easy adjustment system, consisting of a ribbed and satin-finished flat part, surmounted by the polished Omega logo. This cover measures 15 mm wide and is equipped with two oval-shaped pushers, allowing it to be easily unhooked but also and above all ensuring that it adapts perfectly to the wrist of the wearer.
More robust, more ergonomic, comfortable and light, it also has something more elegant. All this is certainly a detail, but every detail counts for a watch of this size.
Note that this new bracelet exists in two versions: one in full brushed steel (reference 020Z017488), the other with polished intermediate links (reference 020Z017493). Both are offered at a price of 760 €. Finally, note that the adjustable clasp can be ordered separately (reference 117STZ013899).
