BRM FF39-40: trapezium case and floating caliber

This is the very first time that we are going to tell you about BRM and we wonder how this is possible. Although not often in the spotlight, this French independent brand occupies a special place in the watchmaking landscape. She recently unveiled her latest creation, the FF39-40an even more extraordinary watch than the previous ones!

BRM: independent and Parisian

The name BRM is straight from the name of its founder and leader: Bernard Richards Factory. And Bernard Richards is a real personality, a car and watch enthusiast who created a brand in his image. A watchmaker by training, he began the BRM adventure in 2003, taking care to create a one-of-a-kind brand. Besides the design very inspired by the automotive world with a strong and unique signature, the manufacturing process is also specific to the Parisian house. Indeed, at BRM, a large part of the parts is directly produced at the factory, from a block of raw metal. Thus, dials, cases, pushers, crowns, hands, lugs… are machined in Magny-en-Vexin. It’s rare enough to be stressed.

An original box shape

You will have immediately noticed that this novelty is distinguished by its rather surprising box shape. BRM, however accustomed to round cases, has decided here to completely differentiate this novelty to make it out of the ordinary. It is more precisely a isosceles trapezium with rounded corners. The latter measures 39mm by 40mm with a notable thinness of 11.2mm. What offer a beautiful presence, while adapting to a majority of wrists.

FF for “Full Floating”

BRM pushes back technical innovation here, making the FF39-40 the very first automatic watch protected both horizontally and vertically against shocks. This is made possible thanks to a system combining 5 “silent-blocks” in the shape of an ogive, providing vertical stabilization, and 2 nitrile straps for horizontal stabilization. The result ? A floating gauge ! A stunning feat both aesthetically and technically. The mechanism itself was developed from a Precitime base, extensively reworked for the occasion (mass, ratchet, balance and barrel). In order not to spoil the show, BRM has chosen a skeleton dial allowing you to appreciate the smallest details of this new and ingenious system.

The BRM spirit still present in a complete range

This one-of-a-kind mechanism is perfectly associated with the BRM look, which can be recognized in the very raw spirit of its machined parts, combined with colored details. This new creation comes in a multitude of ways. From titanium (grey or black) or bronzeBRM offers 36 variations different for his FF39-40. Something to find your happiness for sure!
