A watch inspired by “karesansui” gardens
Grand Seiko has a great habit of telling us a story when designing a timepiece. A poetic approach which, combined with its impressive expertise, make all the uniqueness and reputation of the brand. For this new edition, specially designed for the European market, it is directly inspired by the dry gardens, also called karensansui. A new example of creation paying homage to a natural element or a strong Japanese tradition.
A dial with a unique pattern
We find the nod to karensansui in the unique pattern of the dial, composed of slightly curved lines in reference to the sand of the gardens. A unique and meticulous texture playing subtly with light. The latter is wrapped in a stainless steel case of 38.5mm in diameter for only 43.7mm in length horn to horn and 10.2mm thick. Proportions contained in accordance with the dressy design of this room.
A Spring Drive movement
Behind this sumptuous dial, we rub shoulders once again with the know-how of Grand Seiko, with the caliber 9R31. A precision jewel combining technical and mechanical clothing, thanks to the Spring Drive. This is a movement to manual winding equipped with a 72-hour power reserve and displaying a record tolerance of -/+ 1 second per day. Another subtlety, it has a power reserve indicator visible on the back of the watch, through a sapphire case back also revealing the details of its superb plate. You will have to count 9,200€ then wait January 2023 to acquire one of the 100 copies produced and only distributed in Europe.
