King Seiko: New Diameter And Evolution Of The Movement

Just a year ago, we told you about the great return of King Seiko. After a few additional editions unveiled during the course of last year, the family is now growing with the arrival of a trio of models in 39mm.

Previously offered in 37mm, King Seiko is extending its range and offering us a new, more muscular diameter. Now that the undisputed fans have had their faithful reissue, at least in terms of proportions, it’s time to bring some modernity. Despite its new width of 39mm this new box is also thinner (11.9mm), and the balance seems perfect. Of course, the singular shape of the box marked by its angular horns and its beveled bezel. On the dial side, the dauphine needles have not changed (and if you like Seiko, you already know that they are very dear to the brand) but the indexes, already very present, have been “muscled” to offer even more character to the collection.

Now let’s take a look under the hood. Here, we also evolve, but very slightly. The 6R31 movement evolves towards the 6R55. In concrete terms, two major differences should be highlighted: the arrival of the date window at 3 o’clock and an power reserve pushed to 72 hours, compared to 70 hours on the previous caliber. A subtle increase, but which allows the Japanese brand to include the annotation “3 days” at 6 o’clock on its dial. A dial declined in three colours, At least for the moment. On the menu: a slightly textured silver dial, complemented by a blue and a green, both sunrays.
