Longines Pilot Majetek: reissue of a 1935 model

We live in an era of reissues where many watch brands are drawing on their archives to bring old models back to life. And the least we can say is that Longines has something to do in this area. Since 1832, the Swiss brand has never ceased to produce exceptional timepieces and today it gives us the pleasure of bringing a historical piece : there Pilot Majetek.

Our novelty signed Longines is inspired by a model of 1935 originally designed to equip the Czech army pilots. We find there the famous cushion case, recognizable at first glance, and whose diameter has been somewhat inflated for this more modern version. He displays a generous 43mm, compared to the 40mm of the historical reference, and has a plate engraved with the year of birth of the model, screwed onto the middle. A detail that is far from displeasing to us. Another detail to note, this case is topped with a rotating fluted bezel steel giving it all its character. The latter is linked to a small triangular marker used to measure the elapsed time. A great way to integrate a timer without using a graduated insert. It is associated with a matte black dial strewn with imposing Arabic numerals. Just like the needle swords, they are covered with a generous layer of Super Luminova Old Radium.

On the mechanical side, it embeds the caliber L893.6, an ETA-A31.L91 base, reworked by the winged hourglass brand. This is an automatic movement with hours, minutes and seconds, equipped with 27 jewels, oscillating at 25,200 vibrations per hour and offering a comfortable 72-hour power reserve. Also note that its precision is chronometer certified and it displays a magnetic resistance at 600 gauss. Unfortunately, you will not be able to observe it, but its solid background is a logical choice when considering the general aesthetics of the piece and its historical dimension.
