If we speak to you regularly about this small Germanic village, it is the first time that we speak to you about a watch Union Glashutte especially. However, it is a brand with a long history and it has also been owned by the Swatch Group since the year 2000. Why have you heard very little about it? Because it was only relaunched by Glashütte Original in 1996, much like Tudor with Rolex, and its big sister mobilized the majority of the manufacture’s resources. However, Union Glashütte has been a separate entity since 2008 and offers affordable watches with impeccable finishes. This Belisar Chronograph Speedster Limited Edition is a perfect example.
This is noticeable at first glance: it is a chronograph watch inspired by the automotive world. She wears it proudly on her dial split in two with bursting tones shouting its sport vocation. This styling touch is inspired by a classic car, with the upper two thirds metallic gray and the lower third a bright yellow found at all levels of the dial: tachymeter scale, counter hands as well as on the “limited edition” mention under the Union Glashütte name at noon. The hour markers are also very well executed, in the style of race car numbers of yesteryear.
The case takes up the codes of the Belisar collection, in particular with the large screws on the middle, the retro push-buttons as well as the diamond-shaped crown. With a 44mm diameter, a thickness of 15mm and a lug-to-lug length of 52.5mm, it is an imposing watch that will not suit small wrists. On the other hand, his 100 meter waterproof combined with its two straps, black calfskin and yellow rubber, will make it very versatile.
